I have always had a casual interest in the music of Elvis, and I admit to have read the books about him that have appeared through the years; each one contradicting the previous books
information. And yes I admit I do have an Elvis stamp carefully tucked away. (:
Out of all the Elvis music I have listened to my favorite collection of CDs is the Louisiana Hayride Collection "Good Rockin Tonight." As I wrote in the review in August 2000, I think that it is Elvis at his purest and very best. For those who haven't read the review, the CDs are taken from the acetate recordings of Elvis's Louisiana Hayride radio program performances. In the beginning you can hear the nervousness that Elvis was feeling as he is performing. And as you listen to the rest of the recordings you can hear the various Elvis-isms and attitude that we would all come to know and love developing.
It's hard to believe that Elvis has been gone for 23 years now. Starting this article I went to my computer typed Elvis into search and you would not believe all the sites that came up. People are just as crazy about Elvis today as when he was alive, if not more so. Judging from some of the sites I visited more then a few people think he has not passed on into the next world. While others are quietly content to make their loving pilgrimages to Graceland twice a year to pay their respects to the man they still call "The King."
What is your favorite Elvis song?
