Chet Atkins is the most recorded solo instrumentalist in music history. He has played on albums ranging from Hank Williams and Kitty Wells, to today's artists such as Mark Knopfler from
the Rock group Dire Straits and The Beatles' George Harrison.
As the head of RCA Records, Chet signed and guided the beginning of the careers of such country music legends as Dotty West, Waylon Jennings, Porter Wagoner, and Charlie Pride.
The New Nashville Sound which Chet helped establish is the pop/country sound that came to be during the 1950s. The New Nashville Sound is a combination of the big band jazz and swing sounds of the 30s 40s and 50s, with the storytelling element of the country honky tonk songs thrown in.
Chet has won 9 CMAs as Musician Of The Year, 4 Playboy Jazz Poll Awards, and 13 Grammy's. He
was elected to the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 1973.
