Dateline: October 16, 2000
I have loved Willie Nelsons music since I was a little kid. I can remember my mom
for hours at a time playing the "Outlaw" and "Red Headed Stranger" albums. One of my favorite childhood memories is of my Mom and Dad in the living room sitting and talking on Saturday afternoons and of Dad singing "I Love You A Thousand Ways" to my Mom.
I have listened to alot of country music and I can say definatly that no one can do music
the way that Willie does it. From the soft sound of "Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Rain," and
the more hard edged "Angel Flyin' Too Close To The Ground, to Willies awsome duets
with Ray Price on the "San Antonio Rose" album, and Merle Haggard on the "Poncho and Lefty" album. Then onto Willie's music in the 80s and 90s with "The Highway Men." He has contributed just as much if not more to Country Music then Hank Williams and Ernest Tubb.
I have several favorite Willie Nelson albums. I get a new favorite every time he releases
an album. (: Right now my current favorite Willie album is "Teatro" featuring Emmylou Harris. I love the clearness of Willie's voice and that oh-so-distinctive guitar sound. This album is a mixture of a Spanish music beat and country music lyrics. Its AWSOME!!!!
Not that this album isn't just as good as my favorite "Teatro," but my second favorite
album of Willies is "The Red Headed Stranger" album. I have just recieved the American
Milestones Re-release of the album and it is AWSOME!!!!!! From "Time Of The Preacher" to the hymn "Just As I Am," and the previously unreleased version of Hank Williams "I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love With You," I hear something new in the music everytime I hear it.
