Honky Tonk Christmas

I have never been much for Christmas music until a few years back when I first heard Alan Jackson's "Honky Tonk Christmas."

"The Angels Cried" a duet featuring Allison Krauss is a totally great song about the true meaning of Christmas; the birth of Jesus.

"If We Make It Through December" has always been one of my favorite Merle Haggard songs and Alan does a great job of making this song his own.

"Honky Tonk Christmas" is a song about someone who due to his own foolishness has to spend Christmas with the jukebox, the bartender, and the bottle.

"Merry Christmas To Me" is a sad song about someone who has to spend Christmas alone because he was a fool and let the one he loved slip away from him.

"I Only Want You For Christmas" is pretty much an adult's Christmas wish. I love the verse "I Aint Gonna Write No Letter To Send North To The Pole, Cause What I'm Wantin' This Year, Saint Nick Don't Need To Know.. All I Want Is You For Christmas Baby, Dont Need Nothin Else, All I Want Is You For Christmas Baby, Tie A Ribbon Around Yourself."

My Most Favorite song on the album is a duet featuring Keith Whitley. "Theres A New Kid In Town" is another beautiful song about the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

If there were ever an Ultimate Honky Tonk Christmas song, "Please Daddy Dont Get Drunk This Christmas" would have to be it.

"Santa's Gonna Come In A Pickup Truck" features everyone's favorite Chipmunks--Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, who are more then a little bummed because they live in a place where there is no snow, and think that Santa won't be able to make it. Alan Jackson steps in and announces that Santa wont be making his rounds with sleigh and reindeer this year, but instead in a pickup truck... The Chipmunks go crazy with their revised Christmas lists, and by the end of the song have so many presents on their list that Santa will have to come in a jumbo jet.
