Eddie takes lead on The Fine Line which has a great country sound. "I went and married the woman I loved. Three years of me later and she'd had enough. Just one more angel I didn't deserve. There was sure a fine line between heaven and earth." "While the World Goes Down the Drain" is sort of an updated version of "Country Boy Can Survive." In "Hellbent on Saving Me" the couple are as different as different can be. "She likes to read her Bible, I like a good bar room rival. Sunday morning, she's in church, while my hangover just gets worse. We see things differently, but she's hellbent on saving me." The title track is my favorite. It's a honky-tonk song, much in the style of "All Night Long." Another definite single here. "No one's gonna tell me how to live my life. It ain't nobody's business what kind of flag I fly." Sometimes people can cover songs and they're done well. For example, "Jolene" by Sherrié Austin and "My Maria" by Brooks and Dunn. It takes a lot of guts to cover a song by a true country legend, but in the case of Eddy and Troy, they've made a good choice with "Ramblin' Man." No, not the Allman Brothers classic, although I'm sure that they could have done that one justice as well. This is the tune made famous by Waylon Jennings. They breathe new life into the song, give it a little Montgomery Gentry flavor, with grittier guitar tracks, and it rocks! Lucky To Be Here talks about hard living and how he says "I've cheated undertakers. I've dang near met my maker. I'm telling ya all. Lucky to be here at all." Tried and True was co-written by Clay Davidson, and is a story that is similar to "Hillbilly Shoes." "You don't know me. You don't know who I am. You don't know the pain that I've been through." If there is such a thing as a sophomore jinx, I don't think that Montgomery Gentry need worry at all about it. They've got another hit on their hands, and can look forward to "carrying on" traditional country music for many years to come. Song List
