Alan Jackson's latest album, High Mileage is certainly living up to its name. It's only been out a month and it's already been R.I.A.A. certified platinum.

The Tractors are back with a new album, Farmers in a Changing World. The album is due to be released on November 3rd.

Terri Clark may have more problems with the shoulder she recently dislocated, when an overzealous fan grabbed her arm and wouldn't let go. The doctors told her there is a 90% chance that the shoulder can become dislocated again, and that she might need surgery on it.

Shania Twain is going to be singing "From This Moment On" at a Nobel Peace Ceremony in Oslo, Norway on December 11th. The program will be sent live to over 500 million viewers. Talk about exposure!

LeAnn Rimes version of "How Do I Live" just keeps on going, like the Energizer ® Bunny. It's up to 70 weeks on the Billboard Top 100 list. Way to go LeAnn!

Mark Wills new song, "Don't Laugh at Me" is really popular with kids. Teachers have contacted Steve Seskin, the co-writer with Alan Shamblin, for copies. It says in 3 1/2 minutes what they've been trying to teach all year. This song strikes a chord with people all over, as everyone has been on either the giving or receiving end of teasing at one time in their lives.

Pam Tillis' Cairn Terrier, Buddy is going to be making his acting debut in a Nashville High School production of The Wiz.

Johnny Cash was released from the hospital, after a week's stay to determine how to best treat his Shay-Drager's syndrome. He was admitted due to a problem with his medication.

Tracy Lawrence will release his next single from The Civil War: The Nashville Sessions called, "I'll Never Pass This Way Again," which is from a Broadway Bound musical, based on, you guessed it, the Civil War. He says they will probably have to go back and edit it a bit to make it more compatible with Country Radio. There is a four-piece string section on the introduction that sounds like bagpipes, and that will most likely have to go.

After a 20-year hiatus, Connie Smith has released a new album. She took off time to raise her family, and she doesn't regret one moment that she did. Her new album includes songs penned by herself and her husband, Marty Stewart. Although radio won't play any of the songs, she hopes to promote the album by touring.

Make that 42! Alabama adds yet another #1 song to their impressive list with "How Do You Fall In Love." But I wouldn't look for them to change the name of their latest CD, Alabama: 41 Number One Hits. ;)

Collin Raye is judging a poster contest of children's artwork in regards to Make a Difference Day. The winner of the contest will have his or her artwork become part of Collin's next album cover. Collin also perform at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on the 25th of October to benefit Childhelp USA, which is a non-profit organization that is devoted to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson and the late Tammy Wynette will be featured in Bravo Profiles three-part look at the Nashville scene. The series runs on the Bravo channel starting on October 26th, then continues on the 27th and ends on the 28th.

Johnny Rodriguez, who is a murder suspect, out on bail, joined Steve Wariner on stage recently in San Antonio, TX. They sang a duet of "Workin' Man Blues" the classic by Merle Haggard, and then Johnny sang his 1973 hit, "Pass Me By (If You're Only Passing Through.)

Waylon Jennings doesn't hold back his feelings on how he feels about the new country artists nowadays. He says that Garth couldn't sing his way out of a paper bag, but he's a great marketer. It's a shame that legends such as Jennings and Jones who are Garth's idols have to say such bad things about him. :(

Travis Tritt, Country music's former rowdy rebel has settled down since getting married, and having a daughter, Tyler Reese. He's even getting a new bus with room for his girls to travel with him.

Close-Up Toothpaste is sponsoring a contest to win a date with Bryan White. All you have to do is fill out an entry-form. The date will be at a place determined by the winner and Bryan, and will take place in April 1999.

Shania Twain will join the lineup at the Amnesty International concert on Dec 10th in Paris. She joins Alanis Morrisette, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, and Youssou N'dour.

The Dixie Chicks' album, Wide Open Spaces breaks into the Top 10 on Billboard's Top 200 Album charts. The last group to do this was Alabama back in 1983.

The Wilkinsons made their debut on the Opry on October 16th. 16-year-old Amanda remarked that performing at the Opry made them feel like they were performing for family. Her dad agreed and said they have been embraced by everyone everywhere.

The Hope Floats soundtrack makes it 2 million in sales on this week's Billboard charts, and Mark Wills gets a gold for his Wish You Were Here CD. This is Mark's first gold record.

Kathy Mattea was the Honorary Chairperson for this year's Nashville Cares Aids Walk. Thousands of people participated in the 3 mile walk. The event raised an estimated $175,000.

What can we look forward to with the CMA 40th Anniversary Show next month? Well, according to The Tennesean the taping itself went horribly, with stars looking dazed and confused, and lighting that didn't work. There's a lot of editing to be done, but you can be sure the final result will look much better than the actual taping.

Deana plays Disney! Deana played at the Downtown Disney Wildhorse Saloon on Oct 23rd. She performed as part of the Big Band Concert Series which is broadcast on ABC radio nationwide. The show can be heard in November.

Ricky Skaggs is devoting himself exclusively to Bluegrass music from now on. His last album, Bluegrass Rules picked him up Album of the Year at the recent International Bluegrass Music Awards. He and his band, Kentucky Thunder, also picked up Instrumental Group of the Year as well. Ricky also played co-host this year, for the first time ever, and exclaimed, "This is a real honor. It's great to be home in bluegrass music and be so warmly welcomed."

I hope Jo Dee Messina likes peanuts, cuz she's scheduled to ride the Planter's Peanut float in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade this year.
