It wasn't long ago that Chris LeDoux was staring death in the face. As a man who was a champion rodeo rider, Chris definitely had never experienced the thought of dying. Diagnosed with the same liver disease, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, that legendary NFL player Walter Payton died from, Chris was told he would only survive with a liver transplant. Luckily Chris' condition was so dire that he was placed on a priority list and received his transplant.
Un-derailed by a liver disease, Chris LeDoux has returned to the road and continued his wonderful live shows. As a man who's been recording CDs since his Rodeo days, Chris has recorded perhaps his best collection of songs in a long time.
"Some Things Never Change" is a duet with Chris' friend Garth Brooks. About a rancher who is thankful for what he has, this duet was also co-written by Garth. I can see this mid-tempo song becoming a hit for the duo. This is their first collaboration since their Top 10 duet, "What You Gonna Do With A Cowboy?"
"Millionaire" is one of those songs that says everything that a guy wishes he could say to his wife or girlfriend but never can get the words out. This uptempo song could be a hit if radio gave it a chance.
"Don't It Make You Wanna Dance" is the type of song Chris is known for. Uptempo and fun there is no doubt that this song is a country song. With a fun and relatable chorus, this song is sure to become a concert and country club favorite.
"I Don't Want To Mention Any Names" is one of those Country Shuffle songs that hark back to a time when the likes of Webb Pierce were recording songs. I really like this song and there's a heavy dose of steel guitar, country guitar pickin' and piano.
For a change of pace there is the ballad "I Would For You." While not know as a great ballad singer, Chris has one of those voices that showcases his emotional connection to the songs. There is a nice fiddle in the background of this love song.
"Bareback Jack" is the first single while also having the distinction of being the first rodeo song that Chris wrote. While it probably won't be a hit outside of the rodeo circuit, this song is still a fun uptempo track that chronicles Chris' life as a rodeo star.
With the eleven tracks presented here, Chris LeDoux's After The Storm is one fun CD that is a delight to listen to from start to finish.
