"Song For a Young Queen" is a great song to start off with because of its whole breezy and cheery feel throughout. I know that if I just-so-happened to be a Queen, I would want a song like this of my very own to enjoy and cherish. As the title suggests, "Raining At Sunset" sounds just like it would if you were sitting by an open window listening to the raindrops falling down onto the ground throughout a seven minute long rain shower. It is amazing how much a mandolin can be used for showcasing different sights or sounds that a person would come across in day-to-day life. The slow to mid-tempo and back again beat simulates the different gusts in the wind that makes the rain fall a little softer or a bit harder as the storm moves nearer and farther away. "Eureka!" reminds me a lot of something Ricky Skaggs would put out onto an album. The intricate picking of the strings along with the fiddle, banjo, guitar and bass really makes this one stand out in the Bluegrass crowd. The song already starts out at a pretty fast pace, yet getting closer to the end they go all-out and get faster and faster until the song finally comes to a halt once you know they cannot possibly get any speedier. Fellow Nickel Creek members, Sean and Sara Watkins, join Chris on "Big Sam Thompson," a baseball inspired tune about one of his great, great, great, great Uncles that played in the Major Leagues a long time ago and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The whole song's musical beat sounds like a man hitting his baseball every second which is symbolic of his Uncle's major feat on the baseball field. Chris Thile wrote or co-wrote everything on "Not All Who Wander Are Lost," and you would think he had been in the business for fifty years with the consistency and precision of everything he does. If you want some high-grade quality Bluegrass, be sure to give this album a listen, because this young man has some serious talent and will be around for quite a long time. Song List:
