Clay Walker (Official)

I'm not sure I'm ready for Christmas music in September, but this album is released on September 17th, so I flipped on the CD player and tried to ignore the 90° temperatures and listen to holiday music.

This is a classic Christmas album with traditional arrangements. If you're looking for something that is country-sounding, you won't find it here. These arrangements are in the same vein as the ones on Garth Brooks' Magic of Christmas album.

Clay starts with a medley of "Silent Night/Away In A Manger." On this song as well as most of the other songs on the album, you have background singers and lots of strings. One of my favorite non-traditional songs is included here as well; "Mary Did You Know." I gotta say I like Kathy Mattea's version best, though.

Other traditional songs include "O Come All Ye Faithful," "I'll Be Home For Christmas," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Winter Wonderland," "Frosty The Snowman," and "White Christmas." Toss in the soulful "Go Tell It On The Mountain," and jazzy "Please Come Home For Christmas" for some variety. The final tune is the Spanish-flavored "Feliz Navidad."

If you're a Clay Walker fan, you'll want to pick this up. If you're looking for traditional Christmas music, you'll find it here. Not much out of the ordinary here, but an adequate album.
