At times it was exciting... at other times it dragged... There were touching speeches, performances good and bad, and once again Vince Gill did a wonderful job hosting the show.

The show started with a performance by Faith Hill singing "There Will Come A Day" complete with gospel choir.

The first award of the night was for Music Video which was presented by Dwight Yoakam.

The winner of the award was:
The Dixie Chicks for "Goodbye Earl."

Alan Jackson performed his latest single, "www.memory," surrounded by hay bales holding up computer monitors.

keith urban sang a bit of "You're Everything" in the bumper spot. (bumper spot is the place before the commercial.)

Patty Loveless and Mark Wills presented the Vocal Event award.

The winner of the award was:
George Strait & Alan Jackson for "Murder on Music Row."

Lee Ann Womacksang what has become her signature song, "I Hope You Dance," with Sons of the Desert backing her up, just like on the record. There were dancers in the background, but her daughters weren't on stage with her. I thought her dress was really pretty. It was long and strapless, in a sort of brown patterned color.

Chely Wright and Steve Wariner presented the award for Song of the Year.

The winner of the award was:
"I Hope You Dance" written by Mark D. Sanders and Tia Sillers.
