George Strait sang a song from his new self-titled release, called "Don't Make Me Come Over There And Love You."

Ricky Skaggs and John Michael Montgomery presented the Horizon Award. There were live performances from SHeDAISY who sang "I Will...But" and Brad Paisley who sang pieces of "We Danced," and "Me Neither" During "Me Neither" Ricky Skaggs joined him on mandolin for a solo in the instrumental part. They showed Sara Evans in her video for "Born To Fly," and Montgomery Gentry was shown in their video for "Hillbilly Shoes," and Chely Wright was shown in her video for "It Was."

The winner of the award was:
Brad Paisley.

The Dixie Chicks performed "Sin Wagon" on a set surrounded with what looked like flames. All three of the girls had instruments as they sang, and Natalie played electric guitar. Her guitar strap was pretty neat with chicken feet on it, like all three of the Chicks have tattooed on their ankles.

Clint Black presented the award for Album of the Year.

The winner of the award was:
The Dixie Chicks for Fly.

Chad Brock sang a bit of his No. 1 single, "Yes!" in the bumper spot before the commercial.
