Rascal Flatts performed "These Days." Montgomery Gentry performed "My Town." Carolyn Dawn Johnson performed "One Day Closer To You." Brooks & Dunn with Kim Richie performed "Every River." Trace Adkins and Terri Clark presented the award for CMA Duo of the Year
The award went to: After accepting the award, Kix Brooks said "I want to say thank you to the Bellamy Brothers for continuing to put out great music over the years. I really mean that."
Phil Vassar performed "American Child." They announced that prior to the broadcast "Mendocino County Line" by Willie Nelson and Lee Ann Womack won the CMA Vocal Event award.
Steve Azar and Mark Wills presented the CMA Female Vocalist award.
The award went to: Travis Tritt performed "You Can't Count Me Out Yet." During the song pictures of Waylon Jennings appeared behind him Dolly Parton dressed in a beautiful white gown sang "Hello God" complete with a large choir backing her up. This was one of the most moving parts of the show. Dolly then performed the induction of "Jumpin'" Bill Carlisle, and her mentor, Porter Wagoner. Both were on hand and were visibly moved. Darryl Worley sang his big hit, "I Miss My Friend."
keith urban performed his latest No. 1 song, "Somebody Like You." After performing, keith presented the Horizon Award.
The award went to: After thanking everyone for the award, Joe Don grabbed the award and said "I just lost an Uncle this week, and this one is for him." George Strait performed "She'll Leave You With a Smile." Loretta Lynn came out and Vince came over with her, and together they presented the award for CMA Entertainer of the Year.
The award went to:
Next George Jones came out singing "He Stopped Loving Her Today." a song which won CMA Single of the Year in 1980. Then Deana Carter came out singing "Strawberry Wine," which won CMA Single of the Year in 1997. Together they presented the CMA Single of the Year.
Alan Jackson for "Where Would You Be (When The World Stopped Turning." In accepting, Alan apologized for coming up so much, and everyone laughed. That was the end of the show. An enjoyable evening with many wonderful performances.
