In the 12 years Collin Raye recorded for Epic Nashville, he has had many hit songs. For this new release, Epic chose 10 of Collin's Billboard Top 10 Hits. As one of the few artists who have seen his first five releases hit gold or platinum, Collin Raye is one of the more "bankable" artists currently recording in Nashville. While he's come upon some hard times lately, like leaving Epic, Collin is sure to bounce back and have some more hit songs on radio.
Until then, we have this Super Hits collection to keep us entertained. Every track on this CD will be familiar to even the novice Collin Raye fan. The tracks were all over Country radio when they were popular and thus they still resonate when played with some of the current tracks that country radio currently has out.
The first song that had me loving Country Music, "Little Rock" talks about an alcoholic man who had to leave his wife to get his life in order. This track had a very powerful video that went along with it. The video and song helped some people heal. That is all any artist can ask for.
A perennial wedding favorite, "In This Life" may be 10 years old but it still hits at the core to any committed relationship. I would venture to say that this song will continue to be a wedding favorite for many years to come.
One of the finest songs Collin Raye ever recorded, "My Kind Of Girl" shows that Collin is a great up-tempo singer in addition to his ballads. This song is about the guy who finds the perfect match who "likes to color outside of the lines."
Written by Collin's favorite songwriter, Karen Taylor-Good, "Not That Different" is one of those songs that get you thinking. This is the perfect song to show us all that everyone is the same inside, regardless of the differences on the outside.
"Couldn't Last A Moment" is the last song Collin Recorded with Epic that made its way to the top of the charts. With its spoken verses and soaring chorus, the track is a lot of fun and will get you drumming on your dashboard when you are driving.
As his first hit, and probably his signature song, "Love, Me" is an old track yet it still is a beautiful track about life-long devotion. Every time I hear the song, I think of my own grandparents and their 50-plus year marriage.
