Craig Morgan scores first Top 10 Hit | |
|
(June 16, 2003)
Craig Morgan was first introduced to country music fans in 2000 with his debut single, "Something To Write Home About." He was on the Atlantic label, which was a sub-label of Warner Brothers. He released three more songs, which charted on Billboards Hot Country Singles charts -- "Paradise," "The Kid in Me," and "I Want Us Back."
Warner closed several of its labels, including Atlantic as well as Giant, and some of the artists were left without a label, Craig being one. He was picked up by the independent label, Broken Bow, and started making music once more.
After signing with Broken Bow, he released his first single, "God, Family and Country," which stalled at #49, but then he released "Almost Home," a poignant tale of an old man's yearning to see his loved ones that passed on.
It was with "Almost Home" that Craig Morgan had finally done it. He reached the Top 10! Not something that was overnight, as the song has been on the charts for over six months, but at last Craig has what he so rightly deserves. At week 32, the song entered the Top 10, and this week, the song continues to rise, to No. 8 on the charts, with a bullet. Could it be a No. 1 for Craig? Only time will tell.
Sing along with "Almost Home" and other songs in Billboard's Top 20, which I post on a weekly basis.
And lastly, Craig... you go! Best of luck at reaching that No. 1 slot!
Craig's Chart History:
- Something To Write Home About (48)
- Paradise (46)
- The Kid in Me (68)
- I Want Us Back (51)

- Almost Home (6)
Numbers in parenthesis are the top chart position based on Billboard's Hot Country Singles charts.
