They received the ACM's Best New Group award in 1993. Since then, such hits as "Trashy Women" and "Jesus and Mama" helped them sell over 5 million albums and earned them many award nominations, including a Grammy nomination. This album keeps their unique style of country music alive and well. It was a very good album to listen to, and I enjoyed the special guests that lent their vocal talents to this project as well.
"Still One Outlaw Left" is a very catchy tune. The original outlaw himself, David Allen Coe, provides guest vocals for this song. "What Brothers Do" is a medium tempo tune. It talks about the relationship between brothers, and what lengths they go to take care of each other. "She Treats Her Body Like A Temple" has a fun tempo. Fans will recognize the unique vocals of George Jones blending with the guys of Confederate Railroad. They say "She treats her body like a temple, and I treat mine like a Honky Tonk." It seemed to stress that sometimes opposites really do attract. "White Trash With Money" is a medium tempo song that talks about someone from the "wrong side of the tracks" who has sold a million records and now has money. It says that the doctors and lawyers don't think it is funny that they are living next door to white trash with money. They may have money now, and have a bigger house, but they still enjoy the same things they did before - much to the dismay of their neighbors. "Between The Rainbows And The Rain" is as close to a ballad as I think you will hear from Confederate Railroad. It is a beautiful song. Even though I tend to lean towards the faster paced music, I think this is my favorite song on the album. Of all the many things he's done both good and bad, he regrets losing her the most. That is the one thing he would try to change "between the rainbows and the rain." "Thick As Thieves" is a fun song about friendship. It would make a good "drinking" song. It isn't what I would call a "fast" song, but has the drum in the background making your toes tap along to the beat. Bottom line is that this is a very good album for the country music fan. If you haven't added any Confederate Railroad albums to your collection yet, this would be a good start. There is a good mix of fast and slow, fun and serious. This group may not be at the forefront of the country music scene, but they most certainly are a talented bunch. You can tell that they really enjoy what they do and have fun while recording the music. Song List:
