Countrymusic.Guide: Where were you born and where did you grow up?
Darryl Worley: Memphis - Hardin County (Pyburn).
Countrymusic.Guide: Did you have a big family?
Darryl Worley: Yes.
Countrymusic.Guide: What was it like for you playing the Grand Ole Opry?
Darryl Worley: It was very emotional, a milestone, truly a dream come true.
Countrymusic.Guide: Who were your greatest influences when it comes to playing and writing?
Darryl Worley: Merle Haggard, Harlan Howard, Gene Watson, and Johnny Russell.
Countrymusic.Guide: How do you feel about the current state of country radio?
Darryl Worley: I think the tide is starting to turn for the better. It has been pretty fluffy for some time now but people are getting tired of it.
Countrymusic.Guide: Who are your current favorites in music?
Darryl Worley: Alan Jackson is one of the artists doing the stuff that I believe in and I really like Brad Paisley's fishing song, too.
Countrymusic.Guide: Is there anyone out there that you'd particularly like to tour with?
Darryl Worley: I am doing a fall tour with Trace Adkins and that suits me just fine.
Countrymusic.Guide: Which songwriters stand out the most in your mind? Whose work would you most like to record?
Darryl Worley: Mark Nesler, Bob McDill, Harley Allen, Wynn Varble, and Steve Leslie.
Countrymusic.Guide: How do you approach writing a song? Is it a fairly simple process, or do you have to closet yourself up in solitude and quiet?
Darryl Worley: It has a lot to do with the song that you are writing.
Countrymusic.Guide: Do you enjoy filming videos?
Darryl Worley: Yes.
Countrymusic.Guide: Are you comfortable in front of the camera, or is it a trial?
Darryl Worley: Yes.
Countrymusic.Guide: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Darryl Worley: I hope that I'm still plugging along, making records and selling enough to make a decent living. I'd like to be doing the big shows by then.
Countrymusic.Guide: How old were you when you first learned to play guitar?
Darryl Worley: 9-years-old.
Countrymusic.Guide: Do you play any other instruments?
Darryl Worley: Harmonica, french harp and a little piano.
Countrymusic.Guide: Out of all the songs you have performed, which has been your favorite?
Darryl Worley: "I Never Go Around Mirrors."
Countrymusic.Guide: Who in the music business did you look up to as a role model while you were starting out?
Darryl Worley: Merle Haggard.
Countrymusic.Guide: Where were you the first time you heard one of your songs on the radio?
Darryl Worley: Music Row.
Countrymusic.Guide: What was your first thought the first time you heard "I Miss My Friend"?
Darryl Worley: I wished for that someone that I lost in a tragedy.
Countrymusic.Guide: Have you found that recording your second album was different than the first? How was it different?
Darryl Worley: Yes, I was anxious to do better and more relaxed vocally.
Countrymusic.Guide: When touring do you prefer large or small venues?
Darryl Worley: We all want to do the big arenas but the smaller ones are much more personal. I am still enjoying the honky tonks and dance halls 'cause that's where I come from.
Countrymusic.Guide: What is your most memorable concert moment?
Darryl Worley: Probably opening a show for Randy Travis.
