After watching Garth on the Rosie O'Donnell show today, I decided to check out some prices of air fares and hotel rates on the web.

Having my site on the Mining Co., and being friends with several of my fellow Guides, I made my first stop at Lynn Johnson's Lexington, Kentucky site.

My first stop was to check out her Net Links on accomodations, and I soon found several places that were within my budget. Since *budget* is the key word, I knew I wasn't going to be staying at the Hyatt Regency, even though it was right across from the Rupp Arena where Garth would be playing. Days Inn, and Motel 6 were more my speed, and were both within 10 miles of the arena.

How did I know how far away the hotels were from the arena? Well, I used another great service called MapQuest to find out. You can tell it an address in one town, and an address in another, and it will tell you how far they are away. If you are planning a roadtrip, this is really helpful.

At tonight's chat, Darla and I talk some more about the roadtrip and decide to definitely go to Lexington. Darla is going to be traveling with her mom by car, and I will fly in. Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention... Darla hadn't said anything to her husband yet about the trip. She was waiting for the right time to talk to him about it.

Time to check out air fares. I found a great online reservation site called Internet Travel Network. At this site I made up a sample itinerary and priced it. Very easy and fun too. :) Now I have some sort of actual plan.

I found another person that wants to go to Lexington on the Garth Brooks Mailing List. Arlene, whom I had been emailing for a couple months mentioned she was going to be going to Louisville, and was looking for people to maybe ride with her.

In steps Shel and says... "Arlene, you should go to Lexington, so you can meet Darla and I." Arlene says.. "Hmm... ok, that sounds great!

I find out that Darla won't be able to go on Friday, like I was hoping to do, she will arrive on Saturday, instead. So, Arlene and I make plans to spend Friday and Saturday in town and go home Sunday. I had been wanting to fly into town on the red-eye flight, leaving around 11:00 pm, and arriving around 9:30 am the next day, but plans now change as I find that Arlene has to drive 10 hours to get to Lexington. Back to the Internet Travel Network to redo my ininerary. Now I plan on arriving around 2:50 pm. Things are looking up.
