"I've Got A Winner In You" is an old favorite of mine. After many attempts at finding love, he finally found it. He tells us that he has been there when it wasn't right, and now he knows he has a "winner." "It's Good To See You" is a great song of ongoing friendship. He has the wanderlust and travels the world, but is always glad to return to his friends at home. No matter how many people he meets, he knows his friends are waiting for him at home. "Back In My Younger Days" tells the story of a wilder youth. He found a true love and it "made a man of him." He is amazed he made it through his youth, and even more amazed that he found someone like her. "We're All The Way" is talking about a couple having problems. But instead of calling it quits, they are trying to work it out. He keeps saying, "We have been together all the way" why stop now? This could be the time for them, and they can go wherever they need to be. "Stay Young" says you are never too old to love, never too late to try. This is a classic Don Williams song. He says, "All the best things in life are free." I think a lot of people would recognize this song whether they know Don Williams or not. "'Til The Rivers All Run Dry" is a great ballad. He says he will always love her, no matter what happens with the world. He will be there until the end. This is a song that will pop into many people's minds when the word "ballad" is mentioned. "In The Family" is a song about the closeness of family. As long as they were together, it didn't matter what life handed them. Everything could be dealt with. They didn't have much in material things, but they had each other. That made them richer by far. "Lay Down Beside Me" is another Don Williams' Classic. He walked through life knowing there was someone like her waiting. When he finds her, he doesn't ever want to leave her side. "True Love" starts with Adam and Eve at the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden. They had to have a bite of that fruit, and ever since then we have been trying to make sense of the emotions between man and woman. "We Should Be Together" is one of the few songs on the album where they are actually not together. He goes through the song talking about all the reasons why he loves her and they should be together. "I Believe In You" talks about how much he believes in their love. He goes through many different things that are uncertain in the world - but people believe in them. He says he doesn't believe in any of those things, but always believes in her. "I Recall A Gypsy Woman" tells a story through the eyes of a young boy. He remembers his encounter with a beautiful Gypsy woman when he was seventeen. He spends the song recalling different things about her. This album is a must have for Don Williams fans but I think would be loved by any fan of country music. It has all the stuff many of us have grown up listening to. Even people that may not have listened to country music overall will recognize and like these songs. I have one such person in our household and he came out when he heard the record wondering where I had found the "real" music. The "Gentle Giant" has given us a great compilation of music on one album to enjoy. Song List:
