Garth Encounters
rainbow line

Hi everyone,

I've just had one of the most fabulous experiences of my life - witnessing the phenomenon that is Garth Brooks live in Dublin (Sat 17 May).

The atmosphere was fantastic throughout the concert - Mexican waves aplenty, chants of "Ole"...even Garth was taken aback. When Sandy came on stage to be introduced to the audience, the response was overwhelming...so much so, that she had tears in her eyes, which caused Garth to cry also. He said to the audience "You might think I'm crying because Sandy's crying, it's not, it's because she got a better response than I did!!!". A man with an undeniable sense of humour.

All the favourite songs were played ("The Dance," "Friends in Low Places," "Beaches of Cheyenne," "The River") along with a new song from the forthcoming album "Sevens" (the title of which I forgot in all the excitement, but which involved a crowd participation bit, which was apparently filmed for an upcoming single video).

I have never seen a guy with such energy - I got tired just watching Garth run around!!! (among the best bits was Garth performing from a platform high above the lighting gantry, along with his performance from within the audience (the crowd were enjoying themselves so much, he had to join them!)).

All in all, a fantastic experience and well worth travelling from England for.

On a less happy note, I'd like to pass on my thoughts and prayers to Garth's mum whose health worsened over the past few days (Garth flying back from Ireland directly after Sunday's final concert). (On the Irish dates, he dedicated "If Tomorrow Never Comes" to his mother).

I'm waiting anxiously for Garth's U.K. tour (please let it be soon!)

Cheers,

Dave

(Warrington, England)
