Shelby tackles songs like "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," written by the great Duke Ellington, and then can turn around and sing a hard core country song like "I Walk The Line" written by Johnny Cash, and really make the song her own. One of my favorite songs on the album is Shelby's version of the Mike Reid tear jerker "Till You Were Gone." "I'm Confessin'" is a slow blues song that is just awesome! I love the line "I'm Confessin' I Love You, Do You Love Me Too." "Lonely Weekends" is the one really upbeat song on the album. It's about a relationship that has ended and that she is ok keeping busy during the week but is just a little bit lonely for him during the weekends. "Don't Mind If I Do" is in the style of what they used to call torch songs. It is a really great song!!! "Your Love Stays With Me" is one of those lonely people anthems. It's about how memories of lost loves return as the sun goes down. I love the line "Your Love Stays With Me When Shadows Fall, And Everybody Leaves. I'm Not Alone And Never Will Be. Your Love Stays With Me." "A Lighter Shade Of Blue" is a really great song. To me it really is a song about losing a loved one perhaps in a relationship, or maybe death and the grief that comes along with that loss. How you never stop grieving but the pain does ease a little with time. You don't lose your blues you just become a lighter shade of blue. I love the guitar accompaniment of "Soft Talk." I definitely think that this is one of her best songs. I have never heard Johnny Cash's "I Walk The Line" played and sang in a medium tempo before and Shelby does an awesome version of this country music classic. I can never forget the first time I heard a Shelby Lynne song on the radio. "I'll Lie Myself To Sleep" came out when I was about 16 and I remember thinking as I still do when hearing Shelby's music, WOW! Song List
