Deana's "breathy" type of singing gives a soft touch to the songs and blends well with the guitar in the background. The funniest moment is when her dad tries his hardest to mess her up by playing slower and slower until she finally says "Dad!" and continues trying to find the tempo. On "Silent Night" and "The Christmas Song," (which have always been two of my favorite holiday songs) she really shows off her talent, as if any song does not compliment Deana's voice. The most touching moment is at the very end of the album when "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" ends. It features an old clip of Deana interviewing her dad when she was much younger than she is today. She asks such questions as "Mr. Carter, how did you get into the music business?" He replies, and then after a few more questions she asks him to please play a short song "for the class." He obliges, and she asks for a popular music song, so he really jams on the guitar until Deana says "Okay, Mr. Carter. That's enough." In the past couple of years, Deana has quietly slipped back into a life that is not lived under close scrutiny of the spotlight, so it is like a treat to get her new Christmas album chock full of "goodies" and the obvious love she has for her music.
