Jessica Andrews performed at the Solano County Fair on July 17th. After a series of problems with photos at concerts, I finally had it all together for this concert. I brought both my camera and my notebook, so I have a review, photos, and songlist.
I had seen Bryan White at the same place two nights previous, so I knew the layout, and what time to arrive to stake out a good seat. Being a weekend evening, there were many more cars in the parking lot, and I was hoping that didn't mean that the show would be filled up. But, as I arrived at the concert area, I saw that many of the front chairs were open. I purchased something to eat and took my seat in the seventh row on the end, looking forward to the show, and some good photo opportunities.
I'll list the songlist, then I'll make comments about things that happened during the songs where they apply after.
I love "I Will Be There For You," and when she sang it, she thanked the audience for making that song her first Top 10 song. When she introduced "Two More Bottles of Wine" she first took a poll of people's ages. Then she said if you're under 21 like she is, it's called "Two More Bottles of Soda." Before singing "Sending Me Angels" Jessica explained that when she first heard this song, she could really relate to it, and had to record it. It's not on her debut album, so I'm guessing this is something that will be on an upcoming release. The song "Unbreakable Heart" is great! I knew it sounded familiar when she sang it, and so I looked up the song to see who had sung it previously. Carlene Carter had done so a few years back. That's where I had heard it before. Jessica did a great job with it too. A lot of times when people sing other people's songs, I don't really like them, but this was not the case with "Open Arms." No one can sing it like Journey, but Jessica sang this wonderfully.
While Jessica sang her latest single, "You Go First," she tossed out Hershey kisses to the audience. I got one and stuck it in my duffle bag to save. :D Jessica may be pretty new to touring, but she works well with an audience, and is a lot of fun to watch, and is wonderful to listen to. After hearing her in concert, I went out and ordered her CD, and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Give your thoughts on her concert on the Country Music Forums.

The show was to start at 7:30 pm, and Jeff Perry, the DJ from our local country music station, Y93 came out and introduced Jessica. She emerged from behind the blue curtain and greeted the audience, and started singing "James Dean in Tennessee."
Some of the memorable moments included one of the guys from Jessica's band, Randy, having a birthday. She pointed it out to the audience, then brought out a piece of cake with a lighted candle in it, and proceeded to sing happy birthday to him.
Towards the middle of the concert, there was a guy that had a bear for Jessica, but he was acting all starstruck and afraid to go up and give it to her. He finally got to do so near the end, during her song, "I've Been Waiting For You." She looked at him and said "You've been trying to give that to me all night. Come on up."
