Jennifer's Texas Country

Dateline: September 15, 2003

Last month I spotlighted Mark Chesnutt; this month I will feature Brian Burns, a quiet yet powerful artist who started out being a songwriter but has grown into a strong performer.

Growing up in Central Texas, Brian was raised listening to such country legends as Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson (who he would later share a stage with) and those artists helped him hone in on his own songwriting abilities. to stay to play and write his songs and shared the stage with the likes of Keith Whitley, Steve Wariner, and Eddy Raven. His first popular single was "Welcome to Texas (Now Don't Forget To Go Back)."

Between playing over two hundred and fifty gigs per year, he also has earned a few awards for his efforts. Rockzilla World voted Brian as the "Texas Artist of the Year" for two years in a row and The Terry Awards handed him a "Top Solo Artist" award in 2000.

The latest Brian Burns album, The Eagle & The Snake: Songs of the Texians is the work of a genius with songs layed out in chronological order from the eighteen hundreds to more modern times. "I've Been Everywhere in Texas" exploded onto Texas Country radio where a listener is sure to hear it at least a couple times a week.
