Album title: Man With A Memory

Producer: Brent Rowan
Home town? Rogers, Arkansas
Dad’s occupation? Dad is disabled now, but he was a truck driver and working musician. He played bass in a band for years.
Mom’s occupation? Bank teller
Siblings? Older brother runs a drywall plant; little sister is 15.
First job? At 12, I would walk with my brother six or seven miles to pick blueberries for $1.50 a bucket.
First public singing experience? It was a family get-together, where my uncle had a new thing called a karaoke machine. I was probably 14 and got up to sing. Everyone was shocked I could actually carry a tune.
First girlfriend? That would be Mona, way back in kindergarten. I had a crush on her for years.
Biggest surprise about Joe? I don’t look very country but I am as traditional sounding as they come.
Favorite food? Sushi
Favorite sport? Football – no, baseball – no, football
Hobbies? I try to whack a little white ball around and I guess you call that golf.
Favorite sound? Old cars that go "A-hoo-gaa"
Favorite vacation spot? I want to go to Europe bad – to tour the old countries. I love to ski in Vail.
Fly or drive? I hate flying! I like to ride – let someone else drive. I admit to being not such a good driver.
Favorite song? “Footlights” by Merle Haggard. It’s an old song about a music career that both Hank Jr. and Merle recorded.
First car? A white ‘69 Chevy pickup – not a vintage thing, a real 1969-looking truck! The brakes failed and I had to run into a gas station to stop – that was the end of the truck.
Current car? I drive a 2000 Ford Excursion – a tug boat.
Current music? My car CD changer has Don Williams’ Live at the Palladium, Randy Travis’ Storms of Life, AC/DC’s Back in Black and Merle Haggard’s Untamed Heart, a box set of early recordings.
Vision for this year? I see myself getting very little sleep and working hard at music. I’ve been waiting a long time to do that.
Favorite sports teams? Razorbacks of Arkansas (football/basketball)
Magazines you subscribe to? Don’t subscribe to magazines but I read R&R and Billboard.
Guilty pleasures? Staying up until 5:00am and eating Skittles – I’m a Waffle House junkie.
Thing you love the most you lost? Lost a best friend right after high school, who died in a car crash.
Things people would be surprised to know about you? I’m a shy guy.
Do you balance your checkbook? No way.
Luckiest moment? When I got the opportunity to meet Tony Brown and Tim DuBois, the presidents of my record label.
Personal motto? It’s all in God’s hands.
Scariest moment? Playing the Grand Ole Opry for the first time.
Physical fitness routine? Cardio and lifting 3-5 times weekly at Gold's Gym.
Things you hate to do? I hate to tell people no.
Things you love to do? I love to sing and to travel.
Favorite place? Home
Most embarrassing moment? When I was six or seven I was at church with my family (in front of 400 people), the preacher asked for hymn requests, I stood up and requested “Red Neckin', Love Makin' Night.”
Who would you like to meet? Jesus, Elvis, Hank Williams
What you’ll buy with your first big royalty check? A nice spread – a house with a little bit of room.
What can you cook well? Steak
What do you think your strengths are? Finding middle ground – I’m a good mediator between people.
What do you think your weaknesses are? Sometimes, I’m a pushover.
What would your mom say about the above? Dad? Mom & Dad would say my strength is that I’m a people guy – I talk to people well; they would think my weakness is punctuality or lack there of.
