In celebration of Johnny Cash's 70th birthday on February 26, 2002, Sony Legacy is reissuing four of his best albums.

The Essential Johnny Cash, the 36-song 2-CD/cassette chronicle of Cash's Sun, Columbia, and Mercury years, plus "The Wanderer" with U2 were released on February 12th.

The campaign continued on March 19th with expanded editions of 5 vintage LPs available on CD for the first time in the U.S.
