In the first song, the instant she saw him walk into the room, she fell so hard that she was knocked to the ground and her heart went "Boom." The message of the song is that, with only one look, you can be instantly attracted to someone and start to feel "so dizzy and dazed and completely amazed" by them.
"I Would" was the first single released and tells of a woman that is "just bone and flesh, imperfect at best," and how she pledges to do everything to keep the couple's spark bustling. Just to touch him and prove her love to him, she would stop the world from turning, or walk a million miles. When the girl in the song loves a man, she stays loyal to him. The fact that it is an up-tempo song about love makes me enjoy it even more. "The Wantin' Not The Gettin'" is a spunky little tune that could be based on the saying "The thrill is in the chase." She says that the whole "game" is not really about what guys can have, but what they cannot. If a woman wants to spice up a relationship, all she has to do is be mysterious and keep the man guessing. If I had to pick a favorite slow song from this album, I would have to pick "You Make Me Feel Like A Woman," hands down. Jolie's ultra sweet and super smooth voice seamlessly glides over and above such lovely lyrics as "The way you touch me, like I was born for your hands, you make me feel like a woman, because you love me like a man. Never have to fight for your attention, you erase my inhibitions, oh your arms consume me completely." There is one hundred percent trust in the relationship, and that is what everyone looks for in a mate. If ever this song was released as a single, I could easily see it becoming quite popular with radio airplay. It was quite the surprise to hear the song, "I Go Crazy," because awhile back it was on another album that I reviewed - Victor Sanz's "Destination Unknown." The original version was a hit by the songwriter Paul Davis. Jolie, like Victor, portrays the emotion the song would call for from a singer. Very nicely done. With this collection of eleven songs, it is no surprise that Jolie has a voice that can appeal to many different audiences; she was also in a Rock and Roll band when she was younger and you can hear a little bit of it musically in a couple of the songs. This was a very pleasant album and would be great to listen to any time you want. To me, the album seems very positive even if the topic is not always about happy ever after. Song List:
