I have been lucky enough to get a copy of the Lucky Dog re-release of Rodney Crowell's "Keys To The Highway" CD. Rodney is one of the greatest singers and songwriters I have ever heard. "My Past Is Present" is a very upbeat "Brooks and Dunn" type of song about someone's unexpected meeting up with an old love. "If Looks Could Kill" is one of my favorite Rodney Crowell songs. To me, it sounds like the story of an end of a relationship. I love the line "If Looks Could Kill I'd Be Pushin Up Your Daisys." "Soul Searchin'" is one of those great lost love songs. You know the story.. the person leaves home to get what he wanted out of life and then realizes what he wanted all the time was what he had back home. I would rate the song "Many A Long And Lonesome Highway" right up there with anything that Hank Williams or any other of the great country music songwriters have written. I know in years to come, it will be one of the country music classics of our time. "We Gotta Go On Meeting Like This" is a great attitude song! My most favorite song on the CD is "Now That Were Alone." What I get from the song is that there are two people in a relationship and one is saying to the other.. 'Hey I'm here, open up and talk to me.' I have enjoyed this CD very much, and I look forward to finding and listening to more of Rodney Crowell's music. Song List

"I haven't made my whole statement, I've just stated my case. It's a whole collection of songs and I didn't waste too many words. And some of the songs are really human. If theres one thing I want to do, it's to bring as much vividness to human qualities as possible." - Rodney Crowell, talking about the meaning of his "Keys To The Highway" album.
