After the first two songs, the audience, Kenny and Mark are clearly having a very good time. Then a fan calls in and requests one of Kenny's greatest hits, "She Believes In Me," which is one of those tearjerker deluxe songs. After the song had been sung, Mark and Kenny have a little fun at the expense of a couple in the audience who kissed throughout the song. "They are engaged," Mark says. Kenny responds with, "They better be getting married!" Throughout the album, Kenny adds interesting tidbits of information of how he came to record certain songs. It is interesting to note Kenny first heard the Mel Tillis penned song "Ruby," which was to become one of his biggest hits, on a Roger Miller album. I am absolutely tickled blue that the acoustic version of one of Kenny's recent hits, "The Greatest," was included on this album. During a pause in the music, Mark asks Kenny if he is going down the road and hears one of his songs on the radio, does he sing along? "Absolutely," Kenny fires back, "Don't you?" Kenny has a hard time with the audience during one of his greatest hits, "Lucille." "Every time I do this song they start to sing along and start swaying," he says with amusement in his voice. He finally just gives it up... whistling the tune, he prompts the audience on the words. Kenny highly praises Kim Carnes for the writing of their hit duet, "Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer." Then he introduces his special duet partner for the evening, Linda Davis. They sound fabulous together! "Lady" is a song that Lionel Richie penned. He is the former head of 70's R&B group "The Commodores." This is one of my absolute favorite Kenny songs ever. No Kenny Rogers' "hits" album would be complete without "The Gambler." Even after all these years, he can really get the audience going with this one. I love the story he tells of going to Jamaica and having the natives recognize him and sing the song with their accents. Linda Davis again joins Kenny for the duet, "We've Got Tonight." I can't say it enough how great they sound together! "Slow Dance More" is the one new song on the album, but it is very enjoyable. Song List:
