Tammy Cochran is releasing her sophomore album from Epic Records. Like her first album, Tammy carefully selected material she could relate to. Her philosophy is that while onstage you have to turn into an actress to make your song believable. She doesn't want to rely on her acting abilities, so she chooses songs that are close to her spirit and she can sing with her heart while in the studio.
The first single from the album, "Life Happened" is receiving nods of approval from the media and is fast climbing the charts. It is a song about the path your life can take. It isn't always the path you chose or wanted, but that doesn't mean it is necessarily a bad path. This song could be about anyone, anywhere at anytime.
Tammy sounds really good on "Love Won't Let Me." It has an upbeat tempo and talks about the many things that she can't do because love won't let her. Like, not go crazy when he is around. Like leaving the safety of his arms. Like letting him leave without a kiss. She is completely in love, and is willing to go through whatever obstacles are necessary to keep their love alive.
"Wanted" is a great song about just wanting to be wanted for you. Not being wanted for ulterior motives or for what you can do for someone. Just being wanted for you.
Tammy is not only a talented singer; she is a talented songwriter as well. "Go Slow" was written by Tammy. It is a tender love ballad that says, "Go slow baby, let's drown in every minute." She also wrote "I Used To Be That Woman," which is a perspective of the "other" woman from someone who used to be that woman. It was a neat idea for a song, and I liked it a lot.
I enjoyed the song, I'm Getting There. It was more of an upbeat tempo to break up the slower style that Tammy does so well. She is going about getting on with her life after breaking up, she is 'getting there.' She is just a step away from getting over him. It shows that Tammy can nail the up-tempo songs as well as she can nail the slower stuff.
Bottom line is that this is a very strong sophomore album from Tammy. She is proving to be a very serious contender in the music field. Her voice has a unique quality that distinguishes her from so many of the artists that tend to blend together and sound the same. All of the songs on the album are fairly strong, and I think she can get a few singles from it.
