On Sunday, April 7 Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw brought their show to Silver Springs, FL. It was a gorgeous Spring day in Florida, and this popular Country duo brought in a large crowd to the outdoor attraction. By 11 am, the lawn was packed with people looking forward to the show.
After local entertainment warmed up the audience, Lorrie and Sammy took the stage at 3 pm. Lorrie was wearing a pink halter-top and blue jeans with a sparkly design on them. Sammy had on a Hawaiian print shirt and blue jeans. They sang a couple of songs together and then Sammy left the stage while Lorrie did a few of her songs. Lorrie grew up onstage and is very much at ease with her audience. She has an ability to sing many types of songs and sing them well. She sounds awesome whether the band is backing her up or she is just singing acappella. She draws the audience into her show and makes them feel like they are a part of it. In her nine-song set, she included some old favorites along with some new material sure to become favorites.
Sammy came back onstage to sing an eleven-song set. He doesn't do a whole lot of talking during his show, but he sure can sing. Sammy more than makes up for his lack of chit chat by covering most of his hits. He really likes his younger fans and I was yet again impressed by the special smiles and waves he directs towards the kids. This was one of the things that made me a bigger fan at my first concert of his. People that respect the kids are moved up a few notches in my book. He also throws out Mardi Gras beads at his shows and had happy fans scrambling for those. Again, if there are kids around when he does this he takes extra care to make sure they have first shot at the beads.
Lorrie came back onstage so they could sing their popular hit, "He Drinks Tequila." That is such a fun song and they have an absolute blast with it onstage. The audience went crazy when they started the song and they just had a great time with the back and forth banter in the song. They thanked the audience and left the stage holding hands.
After much clapping and yelling from the audience, Lorrie and Sammy came back for an encore and performed "You Don't Love Me Anymore." Lorrie and Sammy definitely have chemistry between them onstage and off. They are very obviously in love.
