there. Everyone has dreams of leaving a dead end job, or just somewhere that they don't like being. This girl talks about it, and by the end of the song, she actually does it. That girl was nobody's fool, bet she's workin' somewhere cool..."
In the third song, "In My Heaven," Mark talks about his perfect version of heaven. And, even though it's God's decision, if it were up to him, he'd have a heaven where kids wouldn't bring loaded guns to school and where being cool was the golden rule. In "Back On Earth," Mark sings of a singer out on the road, wishing he was home with his family. He sings, "Back on earth there's a brown-eyed baby who's old enough now to tell me all the ways she's needing her daddy, and wondering when he's coming home." This song was co-written by one of my favorite writers, Skip Ewing. This one could definitely be another single for Mark. When I saw the song title for the next tune, I thought... hmmmmm. It's called "I Hate Chicago." Just seeing the title made me wonder if I'd like a song with that title. Not that I'm from Chicago, or anything. But, I wondered if people would take offense to it. But when Mark started singing, the song was about a man that was in a relationship with a woman who needed some space, but found some guy named Tony. Guess where they live now?" He talks about all the things he hates about Chicago, that remind him of her. "Universe" is a love song, plain and simple. He sings You were my life through the storm. You were the shelter that kept me warm. You were my heart, my soul, my kingdom come, the breath I breathe, the sky the sun, the moon and stars all wrapped into one." My favorite track would have to be "Somebody." The story is of a man who admits to a waitress in a diner that his love life has much to be desired. She tells him that he will meet that special person someday, and they could be anywhere. "Somebody on the morning train, somebody in the coffee shop that you walk right by everyday." It's a sweet song, and at the end he realizes that it was the waitress all along that he was meant to be with. Gotta be a single here! "I'll Be Around" is about a guy telling a girl that even though she says she's found the right one for her, he'll be around if she ever starts "wishin' for a Friday evening with the ragtop down." It's a neat mid-tempo song with a catchy beat that will have you singing along by the second chorus. This one kind of reminds me of Mark's song, "I Wanna Know Everything There Is To Know About You," from his previous album, Permanently." "Lost In A Kiss" is another beautiful love song about the feeling when you are kissing someone and your mind drifts off and your heart slips away to a beautiful place. If you heard Mark's tear-jerker, "Wish You Were Here," and thought it was sad, here is another one that will bring the same emotion. "The Balloon Song" talks about a little boy that misses his mother. He writes a note on a balloon and lets it float up in the sky and says "You think it's in heaven yet?" Love Can't was written by Kelly Shiver and Neil Thrasher. It's another one with a neat beat. Gotta be a single here. "Hey, we need a little fixing, there ain't nothin' love can't. So what do you sayin' we pull the covers over get a little closer and do some catchin' up." The final track is the duet with Jamie O'Neal, "I'm Not Gonna Do Anything Without You." This song is also on Jamie's Shiver album. They sound great together, and I'm sure this will be a single as well. In the past three albums, I've enjoyed the choices that Mark has made in his song selection. I think he's got another winner here with at least three more singles. A wonderful addition for Mark Wills fans, and a nice introduction to Mark's singing for those that just found him. Song List:
