| Martina McBride & Cyndi Thomson Concert Review | |
|
After Cyndi left the stage, there was a 30 minute intermission before Martina came on. Her show was due to start at 8:00 pm, and she actually started around 8:15 pm. She was wearing black slacks and a short black top that had a 60s look to it. She started her show with the intro to "When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues," then continued into the song.
With very few exceptions, all the songs Martina performed were from her Greatest Hits album. The second song of the evening was "Blessed," then she asked if there were any "happy girls" out there, and sang of course, "Happy Girl." After singing "There You Are," Martina said that she has been adding a new song to her show which is a cover song, and she then sang an awesome version of "Harper Valley P.T.A."
Throughout the show, Martina didn't do a lot of talking in between songs. She did thank everyone for supporting her career, and she sang "Concrete Angel," from her Greatest Hits album, saying that she hoped it would be the next single. Then, she talked of growing up in Kansas, and as a kid, her family would always get together to watch The Wizard of Oz every year when it came on TV. She said she didn't know who's idea it was, but they always seemed to run it in the middle of tornado season and scare the heck out of the kids. She then sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."

Martina is awesome. She has such a big voice for her small stature. While she doesn't run all over the stage, she does go from side to side so that everyone has an equal chance to see her. Her voice gives me goosebumps to listen to her. I highly recommend seeing her in concert. This was my second chance, and I'd definitely go again.
