Greatest Hits collections are usually the most popular releases from an artist. A dozen of the artist's most popular hits can't go wrong. Add to that the fact that most artists also add a few new songs to the mix, and the album is sure to go gold quickly.
Martina has used the above formula here, and the new songs are also hit worthy themselves.
The first of the four new songs is the current single, "When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues." The song tells the story of a woman that's just had it with her cheatin' husband. The video for the song is done with Martina giving a press conference telling the woman's story. Cute video, and fun song.
The second song, "Where Would You Be," is a ballad with a sad story of failing romance. Martina says "Do you wish you were by yourself or that I was someone else, anyone else." The chorus is filled with Martina's soaring vocals that speak of pain of not knowing how the other person feels and if they want you anymore.
The third song is another sad one about child abuse. The title is "Concrete Angel." It tells the story of a little girl who is abused, but no one helps her. They turn away, and in the end it's too late. "A statue stands in a shaded place an angel girl with an upturned face. A name is written on polished rock. A broken heart that the world forgot." Hard to listen to this one.
