The women of the town are very happy because their men are now home. It has an upbeat melody and makes you want to tap your toes to the beat.
"The Richest Fool Alive" talks about how foolish she is for loving someone who doesn't return the feeling. If heartaches were treasures, dreams silver, promises gold and teardrops were diamonds measured in lies, she would then have a broken heart worth millions and be the richest fool alive. "Daniel Prayed" is the first of several Christian oriented songs on the album. Patty is joined by Ricky Skaggs and some excellent instrumentals as they set the popular story of Daniel and the Lion's Den to music. He survived by trusting in God and he prayed morning, noon and night. It leaves us with the thought that people should apply this story in the modern world we live in. "Someone I Used To Know" is a duet with Jon Randall. It revolves around the photo they each carry with them. Whenever they are asked who is in the photo they say it is just someone they used to know. They don't talk about all the heartache of missing each other and how lost they are apart. Very pretty love song. "Out Of Control Raging Fire" is duet with Travis Tritt. It is a beautiful ballad. She starts out by saying that an old heartache came calling. As the song progresses, it ends up rekindling that old out of control raging fire. "Rise Up Lazarus" is another popular Bible story set to music. It is very up-tempo and fun. It tells of the death, burial and resurrection of Lazarus and the power of faith. "Cheap Whiskey" is another great ballad. Because of his love of the whiskey bottle she left. Now the two things that will haunt him until the day that he dies are the smell of cheap whiskey and the sound of goodbye. "Pretty Little Miss" is one of my favorites just because of its melody. It is an up-tempo, fun song. It is a song about first love. She is talking about being in love, and people are telling her it is passing fancy. She says "he's going to marry me when I turn 12 this summer" and of course the seasons continue to cycle without this happening. Much to her dismay her older sister "steals" him from her. It is a very cute song. "I Know You're Married (But I Love You Still)" is a sad, haunting song that takes you through the heartache of falling in love with a married man. "Sorrowful Angels" is another sad, haunting ballad. It is a story of love that is not returned. She tells him that she loves him and he spurns her. Her love for him is so deep that she never loves another and carries her love for him until her dying day. And sorrowful angels weep in their wings. "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" is the longest track on the album. It tells of the struggle to live in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. Unable to make a living doing other things, most men turn to the coalmines to feed their families. Because of the high mortality rate that the mines offer, they won't leave Harlan alive. This is an excellent Bluegrass Album. It has a great mix of upbeat tempo and slow ballads, all of which she carries flawlessly. If you aren't a fan of Bluegrass, this album may turn you into one. It is hard not to be drawn in by Patty's infectious love of her musical heritage. Song List:
