Control of Music Downloads

Dateline: July 17, 2000

One of the big debates going on is the control over where music can be downloaded. Last week many artists, over 20 of which have ties to Nashville have endorsed a national advertising campaign that denounces digital piracy.

Prominent country artists such as Lonestar, Vince Gill, Lorrie Morgan, Reba McEntire, and Martina McBride signed the statement which read in part:

"We believe that when our music is available online our rights should be respected."

What do you think? Feel free to take the poll below, or if you would like to express more on the subject, you can do so on the Country Music Forums.

About.com Poll
Do you think artists and record labels should have control over where music can be downloaded online?

Absolutely! This is how they make their living.
No way! I like the convenience of listening online, and buying what I like.
I'm not sure... call me wishy washy.
I don't download music, so this doesn't affect me.
