"Sweet Mama" is a good two step song. It's got a great beat and I love Billy Joe's growly voice. "Hill Country Love Song" is my favorite song on the album. It's a slow love song. This is the smoothest I have heard Billy Joe's voice and the guitar solo in the song is CHOICE! "You Just Cant Beat Jesus Christ" is something I would love to get up and sing in my church some Sunday and watch the absolutely shocked looks of the stuffy people I attend church with. I love how Billy refers to Jesus as "a common country kind of guy". I have always liked Waylon Jennings version of "The Devil Made Me Do It," but after listening to this CD, I prefer Billy's version. I have to say "Fun While It Lasted" reminds me of every bad old Clint Eastwood movie like Every Which Way But Loose, or Burt Reynold's Smokey and the Bandit movies. It's one of those cry in your beer songs. "Good News Blues" is another good two-step song. It kind of reminds me of Travis Tritt's "Ten Feet Tall And Bulletproof." Song List

I have to say that I have enjoyed listening to the Lucky Dog re-release of Billy Joe Shaver's "Salt Of The Earth." But, if you are expecting smooth pretty country music this album isn't for you. In the last few years I have gotten really interested in hearing the songwriter's singing "Their" songs the way "they" wrote them not everyone else's interpretation.
