Sawyer Brown is releasing the 18th album of their 20-year career. It is released by Curb Records and is called, Can You Hear Me Now. It has classic Sawyer Brown sound on each and every track. Mark Miller wrote or co-wrote six of the ten tracks. Even though they sound great together and put on a very energetic show, each of the five guys in the band have their own unique interests and lives outside the limelight. They say that their individuality is a strong contributor in putting together the music that has kept them around so long. Another fact that makes Sawyer Brown unique is that they have remained with the same record label they signed with in 1984 shortly after winning the grand prize on the Star Search program.

The title track is also the first single release from the album. "Can You Hear Me Now" is an upbeat tempo song about two people falling in love. Sometimes you need to just stop going in circles and say it plain and simple, "I Love You." You can't always assume someone knows what your feelings are if you aren't clear.

I particularly liked "I Need A Girlfriend." It is another up-tempo song that revisits the "girlfriend" stage. They aren't necessarily talking about actually going and finding a girlfriend, but more about the things a couple tends to do when they first get together. After a few years, couples tend to lose that spontaneity and should revisit the "girlfriend/boyfriend" stage to keep the romance alive.

"Circles" is somewhat of a tearjerker. It talks about the circles you find in life. There is the circle around your finger, one around the coffee cup, around the hands of time and around the orange ball in the sky. Then there are the really important ones; the circle of small hands around your legs and another from your partner around your waist. The song says to count your blessings each and every day. It is a slower song and is one of the best on the album.

"Hard, Hard World" is a very upbeat song. It is about the daily grind of daily living, but she is there through it all. Whether it is good or bad, hard or easy - she stays by his side through it all.

"When The Sun Don't Always Shine" is another song with a message. It says life goes on whether the sun is shining on the same face all the time or not. If the "day" is cloudy, you just keep your chin up and keep going because it will be your turn again soon for the sunshine.

This is a great CD from start to finish. I feel each and every song could hold it's own as a single. There is a good mix of slower ballads and up-beat, fun songs. I've enjoyed the music of Sawyer Brown since first seeing them on the Star Search program. I'm happy to see another album that continues the tradition of great music.
