Stars & Stripes is the latest album from Aaron Tippin. It is released on Lyric Street Records. This album includes one of my favorite patriotic songs of all time, "Where the Stars and Stripes and Eagles Fly." It was released after the events of September 11, 2001. This song was written a couple of years ago. Aaron has always been patriotic and willing to take a stand for God, Family and Country.
The album kicks off with "Where the Stars and Stripes and Eagles Fly," and gives you great honky tonk sound all the way until the last notes of "Love Me Back" end the music. The release date was pushed back from its original release date, but it was well worth the wait. Aaron can sing a country song with the best of them, and I feel that he is another artist that is overlooked way too often on today's radio.
There were not any bad songs on this album. They are in the "traditional" country style, and they sound like Aaron had a heavy hand in writing a good share of them. "I'll Take Love Over Money" is just a really fun song. It starts out with a "sales" pitch saying, "Have I got a DEAL for you." He offers a gourmet meal in high style alone vs. a fast food meal on a blanket with the one you love. There are several of these "deals" offered, but it always comes down to love over money. Spending all of your time working is no good if you can't enjoy time with your loved ones. Great beat, good message and delivered in a fun way. It shows Aaron's sense of humor, which I got a big kick out of when I had the pleasure of seeing him live.
"I Believed" is a song that is sung from his heart. You can hear the sincere emotion in the words. When he was growing up with nothing, he believed. When he lived in the high-rise business world, he believed. No matter what other people chose to do, he believed and chose to follow the right path.
"Honky Tonk If You Love Country" is a very appropriate title for this fun song. It is full of "honky tonk." It has all kinds of countrified things in it like jars of hard-boiled eggs, pickled pigs feet and honky tonk bars. It is pure country life from beginning to end.
The second single from this album, "If Her Lovin' Don't Kill Me," is currently climbing the charts on the radio waves. It is a fun song about what people are willing to go through in the name of love. I think anyone who has ever been in love can relate to this one. It is very upbeat.
Aaron and his wife Thea make great duet partners, and "Love Like There's No Tomorrow" is a great love ballad. Love is a very precious thing and should never be taken for granted. Live each day like it is your last and always let your loved one know how much they mean to you each and every day.
"You Can't Get Any Higher" is a fast-moving song that says that they have to come down soon, cause they can't possibly go higher. Loving her is so incredible, and each day keeps getting better, how long can it go on like that before heading down again? He has a great time with this one and really gets into the music.
The bottom line is that Aaron has released another great album. All the songs are well written and have a message. You can tell that Aaron really enjoys what he does; you can hear it in his voice. I totally recommend this album for anyone loving the real honky tonk country style of music.
