"dodge every roadblock, speed trap and county cop to get my hands on you....if it's the last thing I do."
"The Long Goodbye" is a ballad type of song. It is the story of two people who really love each other, but just can't get along. It is said that one love sets the other love free, so he spends most of the song waiting to see if his love will return. As he waits, he reflects on the fact that every time they are together he inadvertently makes her cry. So they really are better off apart and maybe "all that is happening here is a long goodbye." "Go West" is another classic sounding Brooks and Dunn song. Two young lovers in a small town want to break away from the expected. He doesn't want to get stuck working with his father in the family business, and she wants to get away from her mother's plan for her life. They want to just get in the car and head west. Leaving the memories of a loved and protected childhood is tough, but it is time to move on. Another fun song on this album is "Good Girls Go to Heaven." This is a good girls vs. bad girls song. Bad in this song really isn't "bad", they are just the girls that aren't afraid to live a little and have some fun. They like to listen to good music, drink beer from a bottle and "get down" to the "Cotton-eyed Joe." They don't sit all prim and proper and sip their champagne while dripping with jewels. "Bad" girls are girls a guy can take out and really have a good time with. They say "Good girls go to heaven but "bad" girls go everywhere." I like this song...it has a fun message....live life a little! One of the ballads I really enjoyed was "When She's Gone, She's Gone." This is a sad song about someone missing his lost love. He spends the night having dinner with a friend talking about general things, then the conversation turns to her. They talked for a long time and when the friend had to go, he spent the rest of the night walking the streets of New Orleans and thinking about her. He wishes he could do something to go back, but she needs someone she can count on and trust. "Ain't Nothing 'Bout You" is the first single release from "Steers and Stripes." It is an upbeat love song about someone who thought he could never fall head over heels for someone. But here is a girl who just has to smile and it knocks him off his feet. He spends the song talking about different things she does that makes him happy. He says "There ain't nothing 'bout you that don't do something for me.......girl you've got everything!" This is a great song and went to number 1 on the charts. This album is packed with great music for the country music lover. It has songs that make you want to get up and dance, and songs that you can relax with. It is an album that is easy to listen to all the way through. Song List:
