Looking Ahead to 2001
line
In looking at the year 2001, you can expect fewer big name stars touring. Several of the biggest names will not be touring at all in 2001, and a handful of others are touring with limited dates.

Of the superstars, George Strait will once again have his "George Strait Country Fest" with a bevy of stars joining him, including fellow superstar Alan Jackson.

Even though quite a few stars aren't touring next year, you can still expect to see new albums released.

Garth Brooks expects to release at least one album in the late Spring or Summer. Faith Hill plans on a studio album, and a Christmas album. Tim McGraw will also release a new studio album in the spring. Shania Twain is expected to release a new album towards the end of the year. I'm sure radio, as well as her fans will be thrilled to hear something new from her. Her last release, the multi-million selling Come On Over came out in the Fall of 1997. That's a long time between albums for a country artist.

Not Touring

  • Garth Brooks recently announced his plans to retire. Although he will record at least one more album, he has no plans to tour again.
  • Shania Twain has taken off 1999 to write for her next album. It's said that this project will be released in late 2001, most likely, and after that, she plans to tour to promote it.
  • Faith Hill also plans to take off 2001, but while she won't tour, she will be working on her next studio album as well as a holiday album.
  • The Dixie Chicks Fly tour was a huge success, but with Natalie pregnant, they will take off touring in 2001.
Touring with minimum schedules

  • Martina McBride is only touring on weekends now that daughter Delaney is in school.
  • Vince Gill and wife Amy Grant are expecting a child next March, so while he has said he will tour in 2001, he said it will be a minimum number of dates.
  • Clint Black and wife Lisa Hartman Black are expecting their first child, and Clint plans to stay home much of the time, so don't look for a very full schedule for him in 2001.
  • Reba McEntire is doing a Broadway play from February - May. I haven't heard if she will tour after the play or not.

Each link below shows the touring schedule for that artist starting with November 6th and into dates booked for 2001.

Keep in mind that dates may change, and the schedules were accurate as of November 6, 2000.

Other artists will most assuredly add dates for 2001, but these were the only ones I found at this time.
