A Traditional Comeback?
The Country Weekly Presents the TNN Music Awards show was broadcasted last Thursday night (June 15, 2000.) The awards are voted for by the fans themselves, rather than members of the music industry.

The night's biggest winner was George Strait, picking up five awards, including 'Entertainer of the Year,' 'Single of the Year,' 'Male Artist of the Year,' 'Album of the Year,' and 'The Impact Award.' Runner-up was another traditionalist, Brad Paisley with three awards; 'The Discovery Award,' 'CMT Music Video of the Year for "He Didn't Have To Be,"' and 'Song of the Year for "He Didn't Have To Be."

The results seem to speak volumes on what the fans are looking for in country music; more traditional acts. What do you think?

About.com Poll

What direction would you like to see country music take?

I'd like to hear more traditional acts like George Strait, Brad Paisley, Lee Ann Womack, Gary Allan, and Clay Davidson.

I like the country that's played on radio today. A mix of traditional and contemporary music styles. A bit of Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire along with the Wilkinsons, Clay Walker, & Toby Keith.

I don't like my country music too twangy. I like "popish" acts like Mark Wills, SHeDAISY, Faith Hill, and Shania Twain.
