Trisha Yearwood & Jessica Andrews Concert Review

Trisha Yearwood The sky was nearly dark when Trisha took the stage. She was dressed in a midnight blue top with frilly sleeves, and black slacks with silver studs along the outside seam.

I took a lot of photos, but most didn't turn out since it was so dark. I have included those that did turn out in the Country Photo Album.

Below you'll find the list of songs that Trisha performed. I've included links to audio clips of the songs available, courtesy of Amazon.

After singing "Believe Me Baby I Lied," Trisha mentioned that she had the chance to record "Strawberry Wine" but she passed on it. Then she went on to mention that there was a song that was passed around for three years, and everyone passed on it. When Trisha heard the song, she decided to record it. The song was "She's in Love With The Boy."

Trisha mentioned that there used to be a time when during her shows she would play acoustic guatar. Nowadays the band doesn't ask her to play anymore. They just let her play the wimpy tamborine. She then introduced her guitar tech, Steve Miller, who came out to play acoustic guitar on "Powerful Thing."

I think one of the neatest moments, and one that is always my favorite during Trisha's shows, is when she sings "How Do I Live." You can tell how much people love her version of the song, and they will light flashlights, or wave their arms back and forth while she sings, or some couples get up and dance along. There were many couples dancing up by the stage during the song that night. This was her closing number, but we wouldn't let her go, and we cheered and cheered until she came back.

The song "New Kid in Town" is one that Trisha recorded for the Common Thread album, which was a tribute to the Eagles. "Small Town" was originally by John Mellencamp, and she introduced it, "I didn't record this song, but it's really cool."

Then Trisha closed her show with a song that I'd never heard her perform live, but had heard her sing on tv. No one can sing "Over the Rainbow" as well as Judy Garland, but Trisha comes the closest I've ever heard. The song is so touching that there wasn't a dry eye in the house when she finished.

Trisha will always be the Female Vocalist of the Year to me, and I hope that she gets the nomination this Fall at the CMAs. If she's coming your way, be sure to take in the show. It will be a night you'll never forget.
