Hearts in Armor

Reviewed by Trisha Huenke

Hearts in Armor - Trisha Yearwood In 1992, Trisha Yearwood released her sophomore album Hearts In Armor, and with the first listen you knew she was bound for stardom. After almost nine years, it is still one of my favorite cds. This collection of ten emotional songs and Trisha's undeniably beautiful vocals, make it a must for every collection. Here's a little about my favorite tracks.

"Wrong Side Of Memphis" - Written by Matraca Berg and Gary Harrison, this song tells of one woman's determination to leave her unfortunate past behind and start her life anew.

"Nearest Distance Shore" - When there's nothing left in a relationship worth saving, you have to save yourself by getting out. Garth Brooks sings harmony with Trisha on this one. She says it the best when she sings "You gave it your best, forgive yourself. You can't hold on anymore."

"You Say You Will" - This upbeat song talks about the contradictions between a man's promises and his actions.

"Walkaway Joe" - Don Henley sings harmony on this beautiful song about a naive young girl and the bad boy she falls for.

"Woman Walk The Line" - Emmylou Harris co-wrote this one and provides harmony vocals. The narrative style makes you feel like you are sitting right beside Trisha in some smokey bar listening to sad country songs.

"Hearts In Armor" - The second song Don Henley provides harmony vocals on, it tells the tale of a woman who was afraid to love, and in the end regrets letting it slip through her fingers. "One more day my heart's in armor, though I meant to let you in. In an effort not to harm it, I have missed my chance again."
