It's hard to believe that the year 2001 is almost over! MCA Nashville helps us get into the holiday spirit with the deliciously named Christmas Cookies CD.

The title track is served hot from the oven in the classic country style of one of my favorite country music artists, George Strait. It's cute, almost boyish, to hear George sing about everyone's favorite Christmas treat. Then he confesses why he is so busy eating up all the cookies. He keeps his sweetheart busy making cookies so they can get in some quality snuggle time while each batch is baking in the oven.

Chely Wright sings a fairly modern, jazzy sounding version of everyone's Christmas favorite, "Let It Snow."

Gary Allan fairly wails out the Elvis classic, "Please Come Home For Christmas." This really is my favorite song from the album.

Rhett Akins and Lee Ann Womack help to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas with their selections of "No Room," and "The Nativity."

One of my all time favorite country music groups, The Mavericks, lend their voices and signature style to the Leiber and Stoller classic, "Santa Claus Is Back In Town." Elvis himself couldn't have done this song any better.

Vince Gill and Trisha Yearwood remind us of the old Christmas movie classic "It's A Wonderful Life" with their music selection of "An Angel Gets It's Wings." You remember how the little girl chimes out at the end of the movie, "Look Daddy!! Every time a bell rings an angel gets it's wings."

George Jones is the lone representative of the classic country set on the album as he sings an amazingly beautiful version of "Silent Night."

What Christmas album would be complete without the 1950's hits "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee, "Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives and Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock."
