December To Remember

Lyric Street records is releasing a Christmas album from Aaron Tippin called "A December To Remember." It has 12 songs on the album, seven of which have been written by Aaron with the help of his wife, Thea, especially for this project. Thea also sings with Aaron on several of the songs. It seems they make a good team at work and at home.

"Jingle Bell Rock" is a classic Christmas "rock-n-roll" song. Aaron has somewhat "customized" it, but it still sounds great. They added some keyboard sounds that are neat.

"It's A Good Thing Santa Ain't Single" is an original song. It has a funny take on how the girls all flock to Santa. He is thinking that it is a good thing Santa isn't single or he may be jealous of the Jolly Old Fellow.

"Christmas Is The Warmest Time of Year" is an original song, but has that "Old Time" feeling. It talks of the feelings of nostalgia during the holiday season. Even though it is typically cold temperature-wise for most people during the Christmas season, it is the warmest time of the year as far as the way people feel.

"He Said That He Was Jesus" talks about the pre-conceived thoughts that people have of others. A chance meeting with a homeless man during the Christmas season inspired this true song. Who are we to judge people? Simply treat them as you would be treated. The man said he was Jesus and born in Bethlehem.

"Away In A Manger" is one of my all time favorite classic Christmas Carols. Aaron and Thea sing it beautifully, in the traditional style.

"The Year Santa Never Came" is a fun song. What would happen if Santa were unable to make his yearly trek around the world? This song steps up to the plate with some ideas. They had a lot of fun with it.

"Run Rudolph Run" is the other "fast" and fun song on the album. Has a bit of the Rockabilly feel to it. Aaron said he had a blast doing this one and it really shows. They played some serious guitar and just let loose.

"Silent Night" appropriately closes the album. Sung beautifully in the traditional arrangement, it is another of my favorite classics.

This is a great album for someone to add to their collection of Christmas music. The original songs are fun to listen to and the spirit of the season is incorporated really well. Aaron and Thea sound great together - and it adds to the overall family spirit that Christmas is all about.
