Lee Greenwoods new holiday CD, titled Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, is not your typical country Christmas CD. In fact, it doesnt resemble country music at all. But the big band feel and the traditional Christmas songs make for a nice addition to any holiday music collection.
The disc starts out with a medley of Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, and Winter Wonderland. I like the smooth transition from one song to the next. Greenwood uses that multi-song blending a few times on the CD, for example: Jingle Bells, and Sleigh Ride together, and Away in a Manger and Silent Night together. My favorite is the combination of Let It Snow, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
No holiday would be complete without listening to such time-honored favorites as Joy to the World, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, which Greenwood delivers with his own unique sound. He does a wonderful job on his rendition of The Little Drummer Boy as well.
The bottom line is: with this disc you get eleven tracks, eighteen songs and all the holiday spirit you can handle. Not bad for the price of a CD. Merry Christmas!
