3 of Hearts - 3 of Hearts
The fact that my teenage years are about a decade past made me apprehensive about doing a review on the latest female teen trio 3 Of Hearts. Could I find anything to relate to off this self-titled debut album? I admit, it was hard to listen objectively at first, but that didn't last.
The first release from the CD, "Love Is Enough," is a cute little feel good love song. While almost too sweet for my taste, it is a good example of the girl's vocal capabilities. "6, 8, 12" is a beautiful sad song co-written and originally performed by Brian McKnight ("Back at One"). I understand Arizona Rain to be the second release from 3 Of Hearts. It's a good choice in my opinion. The perfect blend of voices leaves no doubt these girls have talent. And, the fact it's one of the more distinguished songs is a plus as well.
All in all, I'd have to say I'm too old and jaded to completely enjoy this CD. The whole "love is sugar and daisies" feel to the majority of the songs is just not my style. However, there is no doubt these three young ladies have a great deal of talent. The harmonies and vocals are nothing short of beautiful, and though some of the songs tend to sound like carbon copies of every other pop-country song on the radio, I'd say these girls did a great job with this first release. I can see them becoming a real asset to the country music genre once they develop their own style to go with all that talent.
