Asleep At The Wheel - The Very Best of Asleep At The Wheel
Asleep at the Wheel is a Grammy winning Western Swing band led by Ray Benson. They have won Grammy's in each of the last four decades, with the most recent being February of 2001. While they may be overlooked frequently by country radio, AATW remains a fan favorite while on the road. They recently signed on to Relentless/Nashville and are releasing their debut album with Relentless. It is aptly titled "The Very Best of Asleep at the Wheel." It is the first time that ALL of the fan favorites have been recorded onto one CD. Since this band has been around for so long, many of the fan favorites are on albums that are either no longer in print or very hard to find. Ray's motto is: "Give the people what they want," so he compiled his most popular song requests onto this one album.
This album is great to pop in and get yourself motivated to move. It makes you want to put on your dancing shoes. While the songs are fun to listen to, the emphasis is on the instrumentals for the most part. It will have your toes tapping and your fingers drumming along to the beat.
For those of you who like the sound of Western Swing, this is a must have for your collection. All the tracks are great memories of the Western Swing era and Asleep at the Wheel does them all justice.
