Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys - Take Me Back To Tulsa
I have grown up listening to others sing and play the music of Bob Wills. This album is really the first chance I have had to hear Bob playing and singing his Texas Fiddle Music. I can't say enough about how much I have enjoyed this album.
Bob Wills' music in the 1920's and 1930's was as new and cutting edge as you could get. He broke away from the simple mold of a singer, fiddle, and guitar player. Bob's band included reeds, trumpets, fiddles, steel and a Hawaiian electric guitar. The music is simply fabulous.
This album is really a musical history lesson. If Bob hadn't dared to be different and to make the music his way, we wouldn't have country music today. I thank my lucky stars every day for entertainers like Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Asleep At The Wheel, who have kept Bob's music alive for the future generations of music listeners.
