Can't Back Down
Guide Rating -
Pros  •  "What I Need."
•  “It Could Be That Easy.”
•  “Dear Life.”
Cons  •  It's Collin Raye: you can be sure there is nothing bad about this album.
The Bottom Line - While Collin has left his label since the completion of this CD, that fact is in no way a reflection of the quality of music you will hear on it. The CD is nothing short of awesome, by far one of his best efforts.

Guide Review
Collin Raye - Can't Back Down
After the triumph of albums such as Extremes and I Think About You, you'd have thought Collin Raye could sing no wrong. Not true in recent years according to the critics. I've heard him described as too much country, not enough country, mediocre, and the list of absurd descriptions just go on and on. What the critics don't realize is that you won't find anyone in country music more candid or sincere, both in himself and in his music, than Collin Raye.

This album is a triumph in making the listener feel the sentiment within each song. You will be proud and happy for the man in "Ain't Nobody Gonna Take That From Me," a song about holding onto the feelings and memories that matter most. You'll be equally joyful and sad after listening to "What I Need," a powerful melody about a man who prays for strength, courage, and faith, but acquires them by overcoming pain, fear, and emptiness. You'll fall in love along with the couple in "Dancing With No Music Playing," and feel the pain of heart break with "It Could Be That Easy," and "I Can Let Go Now."

In my opinion, Can't Back Down is one of the finest albums Collin Raye has ever released. There is so much on it to experience, to connect with, and to simply take pleasure in listening to. I for one love this album and everything it has to say.
